Africa aims to power 300 million homes by 2030: Leaders unite at energy convention in Tanzania

The Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, aims to connect 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030. This big goal is part of a plan called Mission 300, led by groups like the African Development Bank and the World Bank. They want to use new technology and creative ways to pay for this project. Right now, about 600 million people in Africa don’t have electricity, which is needed for jobs and growth.

Leaders at the summit, like Dr. Akinwumi Adesina from the African Development Bank, said everyone must work together to make this happen. This includes governments, businesses, and organizations. They want to make sure the summit leads to real action, not just talk. Dr. Adesina also talked about the dangers of using firewood and charcoal for cooking, which harms health and the environment. He praised Tanzania for working on a plan to fix this problem.

The World Bank and other groups promised to help with money and support. They said private companies need good conditions to join the effort, like fair rules and stable money systems. The summit ended with a plan called the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration and National Energy Compacts, which will set goals for each country to bring electricity to more people. This will help Africa grow and give people better lives.
