Nigeria: Graves and weapons found in popular Anambra hotel
People in Oba, a town in Anambra State, are scared after security officers found over 30 graves, a shrine, and weapons in a popular hotel. The hotel, called Udoka Golden Point Hotel (also known as La Cruise Hotel), was destroyed on Saturday after the discovery.
The police said they received a tip-off from someone and decided to investigate. During the raid, they found graves, a shrine, military clothing, guns, and bullets on the ground floor of the hotel. However, it is not yet clear if any dead bodies were found in the graves or if anyone was arrested.
The Anambra State government said the hotel was being used by kidnappers and criminals. Under state law, any building linked to crime must be destroyed. Officials said investigations are still ongoing to find out more about the hotel’s activities.
Some people in the town are worried there might be more places like this and want the government to investigate other suspicious buildings. Others believe more checks should have been done before the hotel was demolished.
