Bénin gets big loan to bring clean water to more villages

The African Development Bank will give 77.86 billion CFA francs to help bring clean water to villages in Benin. A program called Proser MR will manage this project. Later, another group called Sobie will take over.

The plan is to give clean water to 965,000 more people. To do this, they will build 40 water systems, put up 1,440 water taps, and add 20,000 private water connections. They will also study how to protect water from climate change.

Right now, about 79% of people in villages have clean water, but 6.5 million still do not. The goal is to give clean water to everyone in villages by 2030.

The money will be used carefully, only when goals are reached. The project will also create 2,420 jobs, and 38% of these will be for women.

By 2030, this project could inspire other countries to bring clean water to all their people.
