Nigeria: Another tanker fire kills many in Enugu

A tanker carrying petrol exploded yesterday in Ugwu Onyeama, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, killing at least 10 people. This happened just a week after more than 85 people died in a similar tanker fire in Niger State.  

The explosion happened around 11:30 am on a busy road. Eyewitnesses said the fire was very big and destroyed many cars nearby. Sadly, many people were burnt to death inside these cars.  

The fire was so intense that it was hard for anyone to help. Some of the people who died were burned so badly that they could not be recognized.  

The police and road safety officers have not yet confirmed how many people died or what caused the explosion.
